With the Deep Amazon Yasuni expedition, you will have the Amazon Basin at your fingertips. It is the perfect adventure for nature lovers, Safari explorers, and wildlife watchers who would like to experience the untouched Amazon. On this trip, while passing through rivers and lagoons, you will feel as if the animals are following you. You will see displays of parrots, toucans, macaws, kingfishers, herons, flying across the river, as well as curious giant otters who will approach the canoe to have a look. Many different types of monkeys will be jumping on the trees and there will be chances to spot jaguars, the master cat predators of the jungle. The Huaorani native people will share their history and we will learn about their rich connection with Mother Nature.

Upon your arrival in the city of Coca, you will be picked up by our staff to begin your adventure. You will have the option of having lunch before starting the trip to the lodge, which is inside the Yasuní National Park, immersed in the enormous biodiversity of the area that is considered worldwide as one of the largest in the world. The trip will last 2 hours in land transport and 2,5 hours in a motorized canoe that will cross the Shiripuno River with the whole extension of the park adorning the landscape. We will arrive at Shiripuno eco-lodge where you will enjoy a delicious dinner. Also, you will have a traditional welcome drink along with a small introductory talk by the assigned native guide.
Meals included: Lunch, Dinner.
After a delicious breakfast in the morning, you will cross the Shiripuno River by canoe to the other bank to begin your hike on the Mirador Trail through the virgin rainforest where you will experience wildlife at its best, surrounded by the enveloping sounds of nature and the cries of howler monkeys. Once there, the views of the deep jungle will captivate your eyes and provide the perfect environment to spot many animals living in the treetops, such as large eagles, toucans, parrots, etc. The duration of the circle walk is approximately 3 to 4 hours and at the end you will take the canoe back to the camp.
We will enjoy a delicious local lunch in a place full of history and tradition, which was a typical house rebuilt and now is the dining room of visitors.
In the afternoon, with a short one-hour canoe trip to the Tapir Trail, which lasts around three hours. into the pristine forest, it’s time to look for more wildlife, such us Tapirs, Large Monkeys, and other ground mammals, We will return to the camp and enjoy a delicious dinner, to then go on a night walk of about 1 hour where you can see amphibians, reptiles, a lot of different types of insects and arachnids.

Early in the morning we will take a canoe for 2 hours down the river to take advantage of the early bird life and have the opportunity to spot Tapirs or Capybaras crossing the river earlier in the morning. We will return to the camp for a delicious breakfast and then we will take the canoe to reach the entrance to the Amarun – Cocha, which means Anaconda Lagoon in the native language. The lagoon is located in the most pristine forest in the area and with luck, we may see the biggest and most beautiful snake on the planet. We will also enjoy breathtaking landscapes with incredible dark and clear waters in a flooded forest. Over here we will discover the mythic piranhas, caimans, boas, and more. Later we will canoe back to the camp for lunch site and after a nice break at the hammocks.
In the afternoon, we will hit the forest again, this time to learn about the numerous local medicinal plants that are used by the Huaorani tribe, we will also learn some skills of manufacturing tools and traps for hunting that they used in the past. This is also another opportunity to spend time in the jungle and look for more wildlife.

In the morning we will take a hike in the pristine forest to the clay lick the earliest possible. It is one of our best adventures in the jungle, visiting the Lamederos or Saladeros (Animal clay lick) where there is a big concentration of different species animals such us peccaries, deer, rodents and some colorful birds such us; parrots, macaws, and sometimes few predators surrounding the area. They come to feed on the clay from the mineral-enriched ground, which helps them digest and detoxifies from the poisons of their main diet. Such places are unique in the Amazon rainforest; because they offer a great chance to see a wide range of Amazon wildlife species.
After lunch we will take a short cane ride down the river to enjoy some piranha fishing and return in the dark to look out for the active nocturnal alligators called caimans in the Amazon, we have four species that live in these waters and the most common is the white caiman or spectacled caiman, we will be looking for their eyes in the dark with powerful flashlights.

After breakfast, navigate upriver to the Waorani Community; early canoe rides are great for spotting animals crossing the river such as Capybaras, Tapir or Caimans resting; birds such as macaws and toucans can also be seen from the canoe. In the Waorani Community you will see the effects of cultural exposure as all the different indigenous groups in the Amazon.
The Waorani people keep most of their traditions such as: hunting with blowguns and poisoned darts, their unique Wao Terero language, knowledge of the rainforest and oral traditions. Responsible tourism brings income to all families at different levels through the sale of handicrafts, canoe drivers, native guides, domestic service, kitchen helpers and other activities. Lunch.
We will continue the navigation upstream until the bridge where we will take the bus back to Coca (arrival at 16:00 approx.). and it will be the end of the service.
