With the this expedition, you will have the Amazon Basin at your fingertips. It is the perfect adventure for nature lovers, jungle explorers, and wildlife watchers who would like to experience the untouched Amazon. You will discover Ecuador’s Amazon in the Yasuni National Park, world-famous for its tremendous biodiversity and its authentic indigenous cultures which are still very much alive. On this trip, while passing through rivers and lagoons, you will feel as if the animals are following you. You will see displays of parrots, toucans, macaws, kingfishers and herons flying across the river, as well as curious giant otters who will approach the canoe to have a look. Many different types of monkeys will be jumping on the trees and there will be chances to spot jaguars, the master cat predators of the jungle. The Kichwa native people will share their history and we will learn about their rich connection with Mother Nature.

Flip to the Ecuador mainland and depart for this deep Amazon expedition in a remote and untouched area of the UNESCO YASUNI Biosphere Reserve & National Park. Experience the tremendous biodiversity and wildlife of the reserve and connect with a native Kichwa tribe still living in the authentic and traditional way, while resting in the heart of the dense rainforest. Live the adventure as you promote long-term conservation and sustainability in two of the most precious,diverse ecosystems in the world!

ITINERARY

Our journey begins in El Coca. We’ll travel along the Auca road towards the Shiripuno River. It will take us approximately two hours to reach this gateway to the Waorani territory.

Once we enter the Yasuní National Park, you might even encounter some of its inhabitants on the way to the campsite.

Wao Kamp is located at the entrance of Gaba’s Territory. Gaba is an elder Waorani warrior. Before wrapping up the day, we’ll visit Gaba and then return for a well-deserved dinner.

We start our day early at 6:00 a.m. We’ll embark on a ride down the river while the mist dissipates. We’ll see how the forest awakes —the best opportunity to spot birdlife. This bird-watching activity will last for a good couple of hours. When we return, we’ll have breakfast at 8:30 am, followed by a hike in the forest with Gaba to learn about the surrounding plants and some survival skills. This morning trail, used by generations for hunting, will last 4 to 5 hours and lead us to an animal clay lick. After lunch and some rest, at 4:30 pm, we will paddle down the river in search of wildlife such as toucans, macaws, turtles, and monkeys. We will return at night to spot caimans and nocturnal wildlife such as deer, capybaras, or even jaguars. Dinner will be served at 8 pm.

We’ll enjoy an early breakfast at 6 a.m. and then kick start our day by exploring the blackwater lagoons in search of anacondas. We’ll take advantage of the many lagoons and try our luck seeing anacondas, the largest and strongest snakes on Earth. We will explore two or three lagoons on short walks and canoe rides. Our exploration starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m. We will then enjoy lunch at 1:30 p.m. and head to Gaba’s house to learn about traditional hunting and how he uses his handmade weapons, such as the blowdart and spear. You can also take a look at their jewels and art. Back at the Campsite, you’ll have dinner at 7:00 p.m., and then we’ll have a short night walk looking for tree frogs, spiders, snakes, or insects.

To end our journey, we’ll have breakfast at 6:45 a.m. You’ll have some time to enjoy breakfast and stroll around until 7:30 a.m., when you’ll start the canoe ride up the river for approximately two hours. Once you arrive at El Coca, you’ll take a flight to Quito (if you have included a flight) or continue to Quito by road (around 6 hours).

 Verified Amazing 10 day Ecuador land trip with Alfonzo We had a wonderful 10 day trip exploring Ecuador with our guide, Alfonzo. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun. We learned about the history and culture of Ecuador and heard personal stories about Alfonzo’s family and life in Ecuador and the Galapagos. We hiked mountains, visited historic sites, hot springs and the Amazon and ate local food (including grubs!). We lucked out and our friends and us (4 people) were the only partipants on our tour so we got extra attention and could help shape our experience more. Also, Alfonzo’s knowledge of the English language is impressive. He even got our jokes and joined in.  Verified Wonderful Quito visit Sol our guide gave us a wonderful taste of Quito and the surrounding area. We visited a biscotti making business, the equator solar museum, a colourful market in an Andean town, another town that sold leather and finally visited a waterfall On a second day we had a walking tour of historic Quito. She was an excellent guide with great humour and very friendly and helpful to all our group

 Verified Ecuador Is Incredible. Such a great trip! Alfonso was our guide -- he is fantastic. The itinerary gives you a pretty good overview of Ecuador. My favorite days were those we spent in the Amazonian forest near Tena, hiking on Chimborazo, and exploring Cuenca. We were able to stay in a couple of haciendas -- those were wonderful.
