ITINERARY
On the first day of this journey, we travel south of Quito along the scenic Avenue of the Volcanoes toward Cotopaxi National Park. As we drive, you’ll enjoy views of traditional Andean villages, dramatic highland landscapes, and locals in colorful indigenous clothing.
We reach 3,800 meters (12,460 ft) above sea level at Limpiopungo Lake, where we begin our first acclimatization hike surrounded by the stunning volcanic terrain. From there, we continue by vehicle to the Cotopaxi parking lot at 4,650 meters (15,250 ft), then hike up to the José Rivas Refuge at 4,800 meters (15,750 ft). If conditions allow, we’ll continue to the edge of the glacier.
In the afternoon, we descend and continue to Baños, a charming town known for its adventure sports, handicrafts, and vibrant artistic scene.

This morning we embark on an exciting mountain biking adventure from Llanganates National Park, descending through the lush Pastaza River Canyon. Along the way, we pass through Andean farmlands and dramatic cloud forest landscapes, with stunning views of waterfalls and verdant cliffs.
As we descend deeper into the jungle, the spectacular town of Baños reveals itself at the base of the active Tungurahua volcano, which has been erupting intermittently since 1999. This iconic volcano is the highlight of the region.
At the end of our ride, we hike 20 minutes down to admire the breathtaking “Pailón del Diablo,” Ecuador’s second largest waterfall. We’ll enjoy a delicious riverside lunch by the Pastaza River before returning to our accommodation.

Early in the morning, we gear up for a scenic journey along the famous Route of the Waterfalls, following the stunning Pastaza Canyon. Along the way, we’ll admire breathtaking lookouts and impressive volcanic rock formations carved into the Andean landscape on the road leading into the Amazon rainforest.
Our main adventure today is a thrilling Class III rafting experience on the Pastaza River, which lasts approximately 1.5 hours. This section of river offers the perfect blend of excitement and natural beauty.
After a well-deserved lunch, we return to Baños for a relaxing afternoon. You’ll have free time to explore the town’s vibrant streets or take a rejuvenating dip in the volcanic hot springs located right in town.
