Venture yourself in this incredible 2 day expedition, biking on dirt roads and single tracks, enjoy the amazing landscape created by the powerful Andean Volcanoes, camp right in front of Cotopaxi, the highest active and most beautiful volcano of Ecuador and trek to the basecamp at 16.000 feet.
ITINERARY
On our first day, you’ll be picked up at 8:00 am from your hotel and travel by car for two hours to Cotopaxi National Park. Our first stop is the Mariscal Sucre Museum, where your guide will introduce the volcano’s geological and cultural significance.
We then continue by car to the water channel, where, after a safety briefing, we begin our biking adventure. The route starts on a flat dirt road and transitions to a scenic single track surrounded by volcanic remains from Cotopaxi’s last eruption. After approximately two hours, we reach the Inca ruins of Pucará for a cultural stop and lunch.
The ride continues on flat and downhill single tracks. For those seeking a challenge, there’s an optional uphill bike section of about two hours to the campsite. Alternatively, you can transfer by car. The day ends with dinner and overnight camping in front of the majestic Cotopaxi Volcano.

Today begins with a fresh cup of hot coffee, served by your guide as you admire the majestic Cotopaxi Volcano in the morning light. After breakfast, we drive up to the parking area at 15,000 feet (4,600 m), where we begin our trek toward the José Rivas Refuge at 16,000 feet (4,900 m).
If weather and physical conditions permit, we’ll continue our ascent to the glacier at 17,000 feet (5,100 m), enjoying panoramic views of the Andean highlands along the way. After descending, we return by car and enjoy a warm local lunch before heading back to Quito.
