ITINERARY

From the moment you arrive in Lima, a team member of Valencia Travel will be waiting for you at the airport and take you, on private transport, to your hotel. Then you will have all day to relax and enjoy the beauty of Lima and its surroundings.

At 3pm there will be an optional free walking tour for those who wish to join (please note that although this is an optional free walking tour, discretionary tips as a gratitude to the guide are welcome). The approximate duration of this tour is 2h.

SERVICES INCLUDED

  • 🚗 Excursion: Lima City Tour (4 hours approx.).
  • 🎟️ Entrance Fee: Santo Domingo Convent
  • 🗣️ Local Tour Guide: English/Spanish
  • 🏨 Overnight: Hotel AC Lima Miraflores.
  • 🛏️ Accommodation: Deluxe city view Room with private bath.

After Breakfast, a representative of Valencia Travel Cusco will pick you up from the hotel (time to be confirmed) and take you to the airport where you will take your flight to Arequipa. When you arrive at the Arequipa airport our team will be waiting there to warmly welcome you and to help you get settled in your hotel. At your hotel you will find complementary coca tea and muña tea freely available. These natural beverages will help your body to adjust to the high altitude of the White City.

Our Arequipa city tour will take you through the streets of the White City, passing cathedrals, churches, monasteries and more. Your guide will tell you all about life in Arequipa, from colonial times through to the present day. You’ll learn how the city has changed, and how the first Spanish colonists built upon an area once home to ancient peoples of the Peruvian Andes.

SERVICES INCLUDED

  • 🚗 Transport: Hotel – Lima Airport (1 hour approx.).
  • ✈️ Arequipa Airport – Hotel (35 minutes approx.).
  • 🏨 Overnight: Hotel Casa Andina Premium Arequipa.
  • 🛏️ Accommodation: Superior Room with private bath.

We’ll make a few stops along the way, the first at the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we can watch innumerable guanacos, alpacas and vicuñas as they graze on the plains. The reserve, which covers almost 366,936 hectares, was created to preserve the local flora and fauna and their natural environment, which was previously deteriorating at an alarming rate. The reserve also protects the local vicuña population through its repopulation program.

SERVICES INCLUDED

  • 🚗 Excursion: Arequipa to Colca.
  • 🗣️ Local Tour Guide: Spanish/English.
  • 🏨 Overnight: Aranwa Pueblito Encantado.
  • 🛏️ Accommodation: Deluxe Room with private bath.

It’s another early start on Day 5, because there’s so much great stuff to see! First we’ll go to the lookout point known as Cruz del Condor (Cross of the Condor), near the small villages of Maca and Cabanaconde. Here, strong winds rise up from the canyon, providing a favourite spot for Andean condors. They soar on the thermals, often in pairs, normally in the early morning and late afternoon. There’s a good chance you’ll see these huge condors, with their three-meter wingspans, flying very close to the lookout point, providing a truly majestic sight. From the lookout point you’ll also have incredible views down into the depths of Colca Canyon.

SERVICES INCLUDED

  • 🚗 Excursion: Visit Cruz Del Condor (3 hours approx.).
  • 🚌 Transport: Chivay – Puno (5 hours approx.).
  • 🗣️ Local Tour Guide: Spanish/English.
  • 🎟️ Entrance Fee: Colca Canyon.
  • 🏨 Overnight: Hotel GHL Lago Titicaca.
  • 🛏️ Accommodation: Premium Sunset Room with private bath.

The Taquile population was relatively isolated from the mainland until the 1950s, and the notion of community and family is still very strong among them. The weaving tradition of this island goes back to early civilizations and preserves elements from pre-Inca Andean cultures. The most characteristic garments are the “Chullo”, a knitted hat with earflaps, and the “Calendar Waistband”, which depicts annual cycles connected to ritual and agricultural activities. When you reach the island, you’ll walk along a narrow path, enjoying impressive views of Lake Titicaca and charming houses inhabited by direct descendants of the Inca Culture.

SERVICES INCLUDED

Amazing 10 day Ecuador land trip with Alfonzo We had a wonderful 10 day trip exploring Ecuador with our guide, Alfonzo. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun. We learned about the history and culture of Ecuador and heard personal stories about Alfonzo’s family and life in Ecuador and the Galapagos. We hiked mountains, visited historic sites, hot springs and the Amazon and ate local food (including grubs!). We lucked out and our friends and us (4 people) were the only partipants on our tour so we got extra attention and could help shape our experience more. Also, Alfonzo’s knowledge of the English language is impressive. He even got our jokes and joined in. I would strongly recommend using Adventure Journeys and ask for Alfonzo for your Ecuador land tour.

Wonderful Quito visit Sol our guide gave us a wonderful taste of Quito and the surrounding area. We visited a biscotti making business, the equator solar museum, a colourful market in an Andean town, another town that sold leather and finally visited a waterfall On a second day we had a walking tour of historic Quito. She was an excellent guide with great humour and very friendly and helpful to all our group

Ecuador Is Incredible. Such a great trip! Alfonso was our guide -- he is fantastic. The itinerary gives you a pretty good overview of Ecuador. My favorite days were those we spent in the Amazonian forest near Tena, hiking on Chimborazo, and exploring Cuenca. We were able to stay in a couple of haciendas -- those were wonderful.

SAFETY: Guides are certified as Wilderness First Aid Responders. We carry a complete first aid kid.

ACCOMMODATION: All prices are based on double-occupancy. If you are traveling solo, you will be matched with another participant of your same sex. If you prefer a single room, please contact AJ before your departure to arrange your accommodation at an extra cost.

MEALS: When traveling with Adventure Journeys, you will have the opportunity to experience and taste local food and snacks. Your guide will help you identify typical food and suggest the best places to enjoy it. Some meals are not included to give you some flexibility about where, what, and with whom to eat. You have the option to share these meals with the group, but there is no obligation to do this. If you have any allergies or food restrictions, please inform AJ before your departure.

Vegetarians, Vegans, and Gluten-free people are very welcome on our trip; our guides are always ready to coordinate with chefs and restaurants for substitute meals for them, as Ecuador is very well known for its great diversity of gastronomy.

YOUR TRIP LEADERS AND GUIDES: All AJ guides and trip leaders are highly experienced, licensed by the Tourism University to operate in Ecuador, and certified as Wilderness Adventure First Aid respondents. They all have approved several extra training courses for kayaking, rafting, biking, and horse riding; besides, they are all Ecuadorian and have fantastic personalities. We always carry a complete first aid kit on our trips. In some locations and for some activities, local guides join the trip leaders to provide an added service and ensure we practice sustainable tourism involving local indigenous people in our operation.

SUSTAINABLE ECO AND CULTURAL TOURISM: Clients receive interpretation and education about the ecology and conservation of the Andes and learn about the factors that threaten it. We aim to promote long-term conservation of local people's cultural identity and the environment. We transport out and recycle all non-organic garbage. We prefer to work with local suppliers. Your visit will encourage the local communities to support responsible eco-tourism as a sustainable alternative for their living.

HEALTH INFORMATION: Please inform AJ of any existing medical conditions (i.e. pregnancy, diabetes, etc). Yellow fever, Hepatitis B vaccination, and Malaria Medication are recommended when traveling to the tropics. Please ask your doctor for advice.
